Who doesn’t love receiving gifts? I’m pretty sure almost everyone feels a surge of excitement and happiness when someone says they have a gift for you. There’s something about receiving a gift that brings genuine joy, anticipation, and delight.
In my family, we have a special tradition—we keep a shared document called The Wishlist. Throughout the year, we add everything we’d love to receive for our birthdays. We include images, links to specific stores, and even make official announcements when we add a new item or when something goes on sale—letting everyone know it’s the perfect time to buy it! The key is making sure everyone stays updated on our latest requests.
It’s amazing how, on your birthday, you eagerly anticipate which gifts from your wishlist you’ll receive! We all carefully unwrap our presents, and more often than not, we end up screaming with joy when we find that long-awaited item inside.
Just like we eagerly expect these gifts, God has many incredible gifts available for us. Whether it’s a beautiful singing voice, the ability to give generously, the gift of prophecy, or even the calling to establish a church, we have access to these marvelous gifts (Romans 12:6-8) and can use them in our daily lives.
However, the most extraordinary gift we could ever receive is the gift of salvation. (Ephesians 2:8)
We were lost, separated from God for eternity. Yet, in His infinite love, He made a way to restore our relationship with Him. He sent His only Son to die for us, and through His sacrifice, we found life, redemption, and the privilege of being called His sons and daughters. There is no greater gift than this—salvation through Jesus Christ.
